God is active in the world. And unfortunately, so is evil. Good is always at odds with evil in the world. We can see this with our own eyes. It mirrors the battle that rages within us. And the battle we cannot see.
Discipleship is not a point in time but a journey. We are continually being saved and sanctified for God’s use. We are never done.
Peter and the others, they may have been glad to see Jesus. Maybe they were comforted as they listened to Jesus teach while they cleaned their nets. Maybe they were pleased that Jesus asked to use their boat. Then Jesus told them to go back out and fish.
Granted, Peter saw the storm and began to sink. But I don’t think Peter ever said, “If only I hadn’t gotten out of the boat.” I think the other disciples look back and said, “What if I had?”
I can think of a lot of reasons why I’m tired.
