Los Archos – Logrono

I began walking before the sun. Because it was overcast, I didn’t quite see a sunrise – it was more ambient light as the road became increasingly visible. Someone in our bunk room had set their alarm for 5:30, so everybody was up early. I was thankful again for my peanut butter since breakfast was only bread with jam.

I was on the road by 6:30 for the 18 mile walk to Logrono. Although lurking nearby, I did not find Waldo this morning. Yeah! However, I also couldn’t find my wallet. I realized this while not too far the auberge when I stopped to buy something to drink. I unpacked most of my bag in the store, and could not find it. My other credit card, ATM card, et cetera were in another wallet, so I still have money. I walked back to the auberge to look but still no wallet.
Each day I look for a stone. My default is a heart, but I looked for a bridge on my way to Puente la Reina and a shell in honor of the wine fountain yesterday. I found a round stone as soon as it was light to represent my hope that my wallet was simply lost somewhere in my pack. I carried hope in my pocket all day.

I took a break in Viana, the 12 mile point. On the way out of town, I spent some worship time with Chris Tomlin. I found it hard not to wonder about my wallet as I walked today. I had my hope rock, but I also tried to let any anxiety go. I have other resources and did not lose any ID, so all in all it’s really OK.
The song “How Can I Keep From Singing” played, and these words spoke loudly to me today:
No storm can shake my inmost calm,
While to that rock I’m clinging.
Since love is Lord of heaven and earth,
How can I keep from singing?
I made it the 18 miles to Logrono. A festival began here yesterday, so the streets are full of people. I have my window open to listen. After a rest and shower, I’ll head out. However, I don’t plan to walk around too much with another long day tomorrow.
… And I found my wallet deep in my pack!
Buen Camino
