This is the seventh in a series of Advent reflections on Luke 3:7-18.
As the people were filled with expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Messiah, – Luke 3:15 (NRSV)
The Promised One, the Expected One, Messiah
We’ve heard that the people of the time
had certain ideas about he Promised One,
thought the Expected One would be born in a palace
or come down from Heaven on a cloud,
never expected the Messiah
would be sent as a baby to people like Mary and Joseph…
Our question is this:
What is our expectation?
What promise do we hold to our hearts?
Who is this Messiah born to us?
