The voice of this woman challenges societal boundaries and expectations even today.
It was the communion of the saints even though the words of institution were not spoken.
The freedom we have as people of God is to not live in fear. Like Job, we have the freedom to rail against God for the things that are not our fault and we don’t understand. And in this freedom, somehow, we are able to find peace in our not knowing.
God is active in the world. And unfortunately, so is evil. Good is always at odds with evil in the world. We can see this with our own eyes. It mirrors the battle that rages within us. And the battle we cannot see.
When I set my measure based on others or the worlds standards, I might look straight but I’m always going to be a little bit off the plumb line.
