About Michelle

ImageMy passion is to help people find their story in God’s Word – and then to bring God’s Word into conversation with the everyday-nature of our lives.  I am pastor to a “traditional” worshipping community that lives untraditionally.  Heritage Presbyterian Church sold its building in order to follow Jesus into the world.

I enjoy playing games and watching movies with my family, reading, running, cycling and yoga. I am married to wonderful man and together we have the privilege of parenting our two teenage sons. We reside in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

I graduated with academic distinction from McCormick Theological Seminary in May 2013. During seminary, I was awarded the Floyd V. Filson Prize in New Testament and Jesse Halsey Award for Imagination in Preaching as well as grants from the Robert and Jean Boling Memorial Fund for International Travel and Study and John Hayes Creighton Fund for Graduate Study in the Holy Land.

I am a second career pastor, having worked as a CPA for Deloitte and Touche for over a decade. I have served in almost every capacity in the church, although primarily in the area of worship and education ministries. I am a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

Did you know my brother, Joe Wall at Deloitte and Touche

    1. I don’t believe so. It’s been awhile since I worked there. Thanks for visiting!

  2. I wondered where you were located, and just thought you might want to add your geographic context to your bio. Thanks for the great post on Jonah – really, really good. Where I live.

I’m in Milwaukee, which I just added. Also, I used your book Holy Solitude to guide my Lenten reflections this year. It was very meaningful to me.

I also just published my first book – Prayers for the People. I’d love to send you a copy and receive your feedback.

  3. Michelle,
I have signed on to your blog. I found your prayer on the Beatitudes and then read that you are a McCormick grad, as am I. I was at McCormick from 1963-66 and had Floyd Filson for many of my classes. He and I shared the same first name so had a definite affinity for each other. I was awarded the Preaching Award in 1965 and then stayed on at McCormick for a year teaching preaching, drama, radio and TV. Congratulations on your outstanding achievements while there. Your Prayer will be used in part tomorrow at our services at Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church in Palm Desert, CA.
